Yun Perez – Cross-disciplinary artist

Yun Perez is an amazing talented Melbourne artist (I really loved her exhibition Mex-tli, Mexican Goddesses). When she needed a new portrait for a article being written about her in Latin Stories Australia, I jumped at the chance. We had great fun throwing balls of wool around the studio. I’m not sure how long it took Yun to de-tangle them but they looked great in the shoot and she intends to use some of them in a future work she is creating. Kitty Portrait of Neelix

So I’ve been kinda quiet of late…. Here is one of the latest additions to the family and he is called Neelix (yes from Star Trek!) 🙂 Isn’t he cute! We actually took two kittens home on boxing day, we also have at home his slightly bigger brother which our flatmate adopted. They are both rescue kitties from Ingrids Cat Haven. Paint Sploshing Fun

I must say, this was such a fun assignment for school. It took a bit of practice to get it right, the paint consistency had to be perfect. You had to get the paint jumping in the first couple of seconds… Of course my first round of experimentation whilst messy and fun, didn’t yield the results I had seen others do online. Round two and instead of poster paint, slightly more expensive gouache paint and a lot less paint, which as a benefit meant not as much mess! I think it was pretty successful experiment.
